Hon. Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the APC, has assured Nigerians and the international community of the superior competence and readiness of Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, to revamp the country’s economy and provide growth opportunities to youths and businesses amid pressing global headwinds.
He gave the assurance during an interview on CNN Exchange, a prominent discussion show hosted by Zain Asher. Israel, who defended the party’s stewardship in the last seven years, explained that the economic challenges witnessed in the country form part of a negative global trend triggered by the pandemic, climate change, and the war in Europe.
He noted that these issues and the disruptions they have caused to the global trade interactions have equally prompted protests in major cities across the globe, including London, Washington, and Paris.
However, he maintained the experience of the candidate of his party in “navigating difficult situations” to deliver progress, noting his outstanding achievements whilst he was governor of Lagos between 1999 and 2007.
Israel highlighted the party’s achievements in the areas of infrastructure, social investments, and security, with specific mentions of several communities in the country’s northern region where residents now live in peace and can move freely due to the military’s defeat of Boko Haram, a terror group responsible for bombings and killings.
He also boasted of the faith ordinary Nigerians have in Bola Tinubu, the party’s candidate, due to his celebrated success as the governor of Lagos where, together with seasoned technocrats, he completed reforms and introduced initiatives that culminated in the emergence of the coastal state as one of the largest economies in Africa.
“People know they can trust Tinubu because of his antecedents. He is a team player who has demonstrated his ability to assemble and guide highly-skilled administrators and experts to deliver growth opportunities to individuals and businesses. None of the other candidates have similar record or experience,” Israel said.
Dismissing negative notions about the candidate’s health conditions, the National Youth Leader reiterated his trips across the country and round-the-clock engagements to promote his Renewed Hope manifesto and obtain the support of important stakeholders.
“We are talking about a man who has worked the hardest in this campaign. Not only has he been around the country, he visited many states on more than once occasions, attending rallies, hosting town halls, and leading other several activities with the goal of selling his vision and winning the support of the public. I don’t know of any sick person who can accomplish all of these and still remain standing and strong,” he concluded.
