Former Senate president and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anyim Pius Anyim, on Friday, said that if elected president, he would re-present the 2014 National Conference reports to Nigerians for possible review and implementation.
Anyim at a meeting with the former members of the National Working Committee of the party in Abuja said the report had solutions to several challenges facing the nation.
The former Secretary to Government of the Federation said that while some recommendations in the report might no longer be up to date with the present reality, all Nigerians required was to review the document for implementation.
The former Senate President also said that if he had his way he would have a woman as a running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
Anyim urged the delegates to ensure that the PDP was not misled in making the right choice by producing the right candidate that would be the right leader for the country.
He said that if a wrong candidate emerged, it would affect the performance of PDP in the 2023 presidential election, and if such a candidate eventually wins, it would affect the country.
“We must for every reason under the sun realise that Nigerians are indeed waiting for us. What does that imply? It is to test the conscience of the party.
“If we disappoint them it will be a long hurt and disappointment from primary to the election. If we satisfy the expectations, it will also be an encouragement from the primary election,” he said.
