The Ministry of Education, Adamu Adamu, alongside stakeholders such as the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede; Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Professor Abubakar Rasheed; Emeritus Professors Peter Okebukola and Nimi-Briggs; alongside all vice-chancellors and pro-chancellors of federal universities have commenced a special closed-door session over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

“I will like to ask respectfully that the gentlemen of the press excuse us so that we can start our deliberations”, Adamu Adamu had said.

Earlier, the minister had lamented the failure of ASUU to call off its strike despite interventions by the government.

ASUU had embarked on a strike on Monday, February 14,2022 following what the union tagged as failure of the government to meet lingering demands.
